Onno Boonstra (1951) is senior researcher at the Afdeling Geschiedenis of the Radboud University, Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
His main topics of interest are:
1. social history of the Netherlands, 19th century
with an emphasis on historical demography, social stratification and illiteracy
2. historical information systems
with an emphasis on historical database design and geographical information systems
3. historical statistics
He is chair of the Historical GIS / Historical Methods Network of the European Social Science History Conference and co-chair of the Historische vereniging van Arnhem Prodesse Conamur, and was Secretary-General of the Association for History & Computing and chairman of the Vereniging voor Geschiedenis en Informatica.
